Fig Tree!

Yesterday I purchased a small fig tree. Found it at the local farmer's market. It's called Brown Turkey. The seller gave me some articles about growing it in the northeast.

I'm excited to give it a try.

I'm still plugging away at Bridgewater's lace section. I have a couple of small items to start knitting.

What a wonderful weather day. It made me want to do some long overdue chores around the house.

Presently I'm sitting in the Florida room listening to the birds, sipping iced tea and getting ready to knit and or read The Omnivore's Dilemma.

My dad has a Black Mission fig (he lives in San Diego). I love them! I think there is a green fig that grows here in the Willamette valley, but I'm moving to central Oregon, and they won't grow there. Guess I'll just have to buy them, or snag Dad's when I get down there!

Good luck with your pretty little fig tree.
I listened to The Omnivore's Dilemma on audiobook, so could knit and read at the same time! Lots of 'food for thought', haha. I also listened to his second book (the name presently escapes me) which was just as thought povoking.

check the web for WHYY's You bet your garden's site. they have a q&a section on there that has all sorts of answers about growing fig trees in the NE (Philly). Also check the old podcasts from there as I know I heard several discussions on overwintering them.
